The Museum of the Future
The National Museum's building project on the Vestbanen site in Oslo will be debated in the Norwegian parliament just after the New Year. Based on museum developments this autumn, the National Museum wants to discuss the museum's plans within the framework of a wider European concept development. That is why we have invited leading European personalities within the museum community to share their visions for museums of the future during a seminar 6 November at the Astrup Fearnley Museum.
Museums are in constant change and fluctuating cultural and social conditions: Astrup Fearnley has opened its ambitious new building, the Munch museum's building plans are still awaiting clarification and The National Museum's building project will be debated in the Norwegian parliament just after the New Year. There has never before been a greater need for considering our museum plans within the framework of broader European concept development.
Keynote speakers are: Dr. Marie Bourke, Keeper and Head of Education at the Irish National Gallery, Alexandre Colliex, Head of International Relations,Centre Pompidou, Paris, Audun Eckhoff, Director at Nasjonalmuseet, Massimo Negri, Director of the European Museum Academy, Den Haag and Abraham Thomas, Curator, Twentitieth-century and Contemporary Design,Victoria & Albert Museum.
